548 Dengue Fever Cases Happened in N. Jakarta

The dengue fever outbreaks in the capital city keeps haunting the residents, especially in North Jakarta. Based on the latest data, since January-April 2014, the North Jakarta Health Sub-Department recorded that the disease has attacked 548 people living in six sub-districts.

In details, the higher amount of dengue fever case is dominated by Tanjung Priok Sub-District (124 cases), followed by Cilincing and Penjaringan Sub-Districts (107 cases), Koja Sub-District (101 cases), Kelapa Gading Sub-District (80 cases), and Pademangan Sub-District (29 cases).
Head of North Jakarta Health Sub-Department, Bambang Suheri disclosed that until this April, 548 dengue fever cases hit residents in North Jakarta. For January, its case reaches 113 cases, February 106 cases, and March 189 cases. "But in April, the dengue fever graph is decreasing or only 140 people infected by dengue fever," he told, Sunday (5/18).

He exclaimed that such case is caused by low public awareness to conduct the activity of the anti-mosquito campaign (PSN) in their neighborhood. "People are less concerned with the PSN," he expressed.
Suheri added the PSN activity is the most effective way to prevent dengue fever. "PSN is one of the efforts to prevent the breeding of aedes aegypti mosquito. And it must be conducted regularly and must be in accordance with the procedure," he said.
